Lithgow Mercury November 3rd 1899
JENOLAN CAVES
(From our own correspondent)
On Wednesday last Mr and Mrs F.J. Wilson of 'Lochaber' entertained their friends at a most enjoyable evening, dancing, singing and games being carried on throughout the evening. The good things supplied for the inner man were highly appreciated. Vocal items were rendered by Mrs J.V. Wilson (Oberon), Miss Squires (Sydney), Mr W. Smith (Sydney) and Mr J.F. Sheridan. At 1 a.m. hands were joined and Auld Lang Syne was sung with great enthusiasm, which closed one of the jolliest evenings given at Jenolan Caves.
Among the list of new appointments the bench appears W. Wallace, Jenolan. This gentleman left the district more than 12 months ago, and still we are without the necessary magistrate, the nearest being at Oberon which is too far distant.
Mr Shipway, the manager of the Cave House after a spell of 16 months here, has taken a holiday having left last week for the metropolis.
